Laser Hair Reduction (LHR)

Advanced, Safe & Long-Lasting Hair Reduction

Laser Hair Reduction (LHR) is a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment that uses concentrated light energy to selectively target and disable hair follicles at the root. Over a series of sessions, it significantly reduces hair growth delivering smooth, hair-free skin that lasts. Unlike temporary methods like waxing or shaving, LHR addresses the problem at the source.

What is Laser Hair Reduction?

LHR works on the principle of selective photothermolysis the laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by melanin (the pigment in hair). This light energy is converted into heat, which travels down the hair shaft and destroys the follicle’s ability to regrow hair, without affecting the surrounding skin.

Because hair grows in cycles (anagen, catagen, telogen), LHR is most effective during the active growth phase (anagen). Multiple sessions are required to treat all follicles as they cycle through this stage. At Ivy Clinics, we use Alma soprano titanium that has advanced laser technology with triple wavelength systems (diode, alexandrite  and Nd:YAG) that are safe across a wide range of skin tones, including Indian skin types.

Treatment Process at The IVY Clinics

Consultation & Skin Assessment

Your dermatologist assesses your hair type, skin tone (Fitzpatrick scale), and hormonal history. A personalised treatment plan is created including  energy settings and number of sessions needed.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

The treatment area is shaved 24–48 hours prior. A cooling gel is applied to the skin to maximise comfort and protect the surface.

Laser Application

The handpiece is placed against the skin and pulses of laser light are delivered. You may feel a mild snapping or warm sensation. Most sessions take 10–45 minutes depending on the area.

Post-Session Soothing

A soothing lotion or aloe vera gel is applied. Any mild redness typically subsides within a few hours.

Follow-Up Sessions

Sessions are spaced 4–8 weeks apart. Most patients require 8-10  sessions for optimal results. Maintenance sessions may be recommended once or twice a year.

The Laser Hair Reduction (LHR) Procedure at Ivy Clinics

At Ivy Clinics, every LHR session is performed by trained medical professionals — never unqualified technicians. We use FDA- approved laser systems from Alma Lasers, calibrated individually for your skin tone and hair type. Our clinics maintain strict hygiene protocols with disposable accessories and sterilised handpieces. Post-session skincare advice is provided at every visit. We offer affordable per-session pricing for small areas like upper lip (₹400), chin (₹500), and sidelocks (₹700), making consistent, safe treatment accessible.

Is LHR Safe at The IVY Clinics?

Yes. LHR at Ivy Clinics is performed by qualified dermatologists and trained skin therapists using medically certified equipment. The Alma Laser systems we use are clinically validated for all Indian skin tones. Mild redness or temporary sensitivity post-session is normal and resolves quickly. Serious side effects are rare when performed by trained professionals with proper pre-treatment assessment.

How to Prepare for Your Session

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks before your session
  • Shave the area 24–48 hours prior (do not wax or thread — hair root must be present)
  • Do not apply lotions, deodorants, or perfumes on the day of treatment
  • Inform your doctor if you are on any photosensitive medications
  • Stay hydrated and ensure the skin is clean before your appointment

Precautions After LHR

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 1 week post-treatment; use SPF 50+ daily
  • Do not wax, pluck, or thread between sessions — shaving is allowed
  • Avoid heat — saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for 48 hours post-session
  • Do not apply makeup or heavy creams on treated areas for 24 hours
  • Inform your therapist if you are pregnant or have any recent skin conditions

What to Expect After Treatment

Mild redness and warmth in the treated area is completely normal and typically resolves within a few hours. Hair in the follicle will continue to shed over 1–3 weeks post-session — this is a sign the treatment is working. Skin will feel smoother with each successive session. Sun protection is essential post-treatment. Most patients notice a significant reduction in hair density after 3–4 sessions, with optimal results visible after completing the full course.
